$80Millions for Congolese independent electoral commission

The government is providing funds to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Sunday, June 26, at the Ministry of Finance.

This brings to $ 80 million the amount given so far by the Government as financial support to the electoral process.

Present at the ceremony, the president of the INEC, Ngoy Mulunda, said he welcomed the government’s support.

Mulunda said that the commission already has $ 80 million on 138 million needed to fund the first stage for elections.

“We have very little money to continue,” he said without specifying the amount.

The issue of respect the electoral calendar does not arise any more, Ngoy Mulunda that ensures continued:

“There is nothing that will stop us now because we’re going all the commands from this week,” He said.

He urged the Congolese to enlist because, he said, “this time there will be no extension.”

“Let anyone who wants to participate in elections enrolled now,” concluded the President of the INEC.

According to the Minister of Finance, the money disbursed is already turned in three different banks operating in the DRC. The government will disburse another 20 million USD for the INEC in July, said the source.
