Young Grace, Don and Abami kukirwa scoops awards

Rubavu district in the Western province of Rwanda in conjunction with Radio-Rwanda affiliated community radio (RC-Rubavu) have awarded the best artists of the year by the votes cast out live on air in five days to determine the winners.

In the party nicknamed as ‘Isuku party’ hosted by the Gisenyi town in a campaign to sensitise for sanitation, Young Grace imaged as the best female artist of the year according to the DJ who mobilised listeners to choice the best female artist, best male and the best group.

The best group declared is “Abami kukirwa” literary meaning Kings at the an island, as the best male happened to be Don who were given trophies in a big party attended by the thousands, including Cultural and sports minister Joseph Habineza.

“I am happy that where these artist come from, they recognise their development as they struggle to use there talents,” Habineza said.

Young Grace told Great Lakes Voice that she is so humbled by the award and she is going to work hard.
