Nine patients who were confirmed Ebola cases were cured and were able to be discharged from the Ebola treatment center where they were hospitalized, according to a Ministry of Health statement released on Saturday (June 2nd).

The commissions of care and psychosocial follow-up launched the National Association of Winners of Ebola (ANVE) bringing together all cured to ensure better biological, psychological and social monitoring, the statement said.

The same document indicates that the 5 suspected cases reported on Friday, June 1 were negative.

According to the Ministry of Health, negative tests are systematically removed from the summary table. The category of probable cases includes all reported deaths for which it was not possible to obtain biological samples for laboratory confirmation.

The Ebola outbreak was declared on May 8 in Bikoro, a town 600 km north of Kinshasa. Cases have subsequently been identified in the city of Mbandaka, capital of Equateur Province.
