The court of Versailles in France, has revised a decision against Agatha Kanziga, the former wife of President Juvenal Habyarimana, to void her application to acquire French citizenship on Genocide charges.

The French court has ruled that Kanziga isnow free to apply and possibly get the status as Rwanda restores arrest warrants against the former first lady who Rwanda justice say they have vivid evidences that not only Kanziga participated in the 1994 Genocide but she is among top masterminds.

The prosecution spokesman, Augustine Nkusi, told the media that the French court decision has nothing to do with Rwanda’s request to see Kanziga appear in Rwanda courts of Justice to answer all charges related to Genocide that claimed thousands of lives in 1994.
“Since October 2009, the justice of Rwanda issued the arrest warrant against Kanziga to be extradited and be brought to Rwanda and answer the charges in vain. “ Nkusi adds that,” Rwanda is still hope full to have her in local courts due to the French judges who have been coming to investigate on claims.”

In July this year, the governor of Essonne in France had rejected Kanziga’s application and requested that the embattled former first lady should immediate leave France following the arrest warrants of Genocide charges. However, it’s not clear yet if, Agatha Kanziga will be extradited or face French courts on Genocide charges since the decision is left for the Paris high court.
