MindSky Rugby League: Kigali Sharks upsets Remera Buffaloe

Kigali Sharks Rugby club shocked defending champions Remera Buffaloes in the MindSky Rugby league at the muddy ground at Utexrwa stadium over the weekend.

Sharks played an entertaining game all throughout the game as they won support and cheering from a few fans watching on the said to win by 13-10 points in a game played under heavy rain.

Sharks dominated the set pieces, retain possession and put their opponents in a chokehold all throughout the game.

After the game Sharks captain, Jean  De Dieu Hakizimana ‘Kabodi’ who was named the man of the match said he was happy with the way his teammates played.

“We played with confidence and consistency, even though we lost the opening game against 1,000 Hills we are looking forward to winning the title this season.” He added

Buffalo’s president Benjamin Akami Makombe who was astonished by the way his side performed said Sharks tactically outplayed his side.

He said, “The opponents were a better team but we are looking forward to the other upcoming games.”

In the first game played on the same pitch, Thousand Hills thumped Lion De Fer Rugby football club to win by 54-7.

 The Hills have now won two games in a role. While at Rusizi, Resilience RFC defeated Muhanga Thunders by 15-10, while on Sunday at Kamonyi district, Puma Kamonyi beat the University of Rwanda Grizzles by 18-14 points.

In the next upcoming fixtures over the weekend, UR Grizzles welcome Muhanga at Huye, the clash of the titans and rivalry will see 1,000 Hills taking on Buffaloes in what is expected to be a thrilling game.
