Mukayisenga leads Sorwathe girls’ team in upsetting Oasis

Sorwathe Girls cricket shocked division two favorites Oasis cricket club in an entertaining game played at Kicukiro cricket ground.

The Kinihira based club making their debut in the women’s league won the toss and decided to bowl first and their decision paid off as the restricted the more experienced Oasis led by Rwanda international Diane Ishimwe to 80/8 in 20 overs.

Ishimwe led the batting for Oasis with 38 runs off 54 balls, she continued losing partners at the end due to the optional bowling of Mukayisenga Jeanette who returned figures of 3 wickets for 12 runs in 3 overs.

In reply, Sorwathe chased the runs with one wicket and seven balls to spare scoring 81-9 in 18.9 overs to win by a wicket.

In the game, Phoenix Cricket club defeated Ndera by 6 wickets.

Phoenix won the toss batting first making 56 runs in 12.5 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. The team relied on Rebecca Niyobyosa who produced 8 runs in 4 overs to become player of the match.

In reply, Ndera were all out for 53 runs in 15 overs and 7 wickets, with Promesse Uwamahoro and Bebish Ishimwe partnership both producing 22 runs.

In the other two games played at Gahanga ground, White Clouds continued to maintain a clean sheet after defeating She-Guard by 74 runs.

The Clouds who are form posted 110-7 in 20 overs while the Guards managed36 all out in 13.3 overs. Batting for the Clouds, both Mary Maina and Irihi Veronique produced 52 runs.

She-Guards bowler Magret Vumilla was named start of the game having posted 8 runs in 4 overs.

In other game, Vikings CC beat Sorwate by 9 wickets.

Sorwate won the toss and decided to bat first making 61-10 in 17.4 overs in reply Vikings CC chasing 62-1 in 8.5 overs.

Kutchi Tigers Rwanda CC beat Tamil Lions C by 85 runs.
