New fighting in Eastern Congo: M23 rebels takes over Nyamilima

DRC-New fighting has erupted today in Eastern DRC when M23 advanced to capture Nyamilima town, after heavy fighting with FDLR militias, Great Lakes Voice reports.

Nyamirima is a village north of Rutshuru on the road towards the border town to Ishasa near Uganda border.

Nyamilima is another strategic place to control the border posts towards Uganda. Ishasa is since long time a FDLR stronghold and important for smuggling and border trafficking.

The Congolese Hutu-Militia also is reported to have burnt down an IDP camp in Masisi according to the eye witness. Heavy fighting is also reported in Massisi territory as well between Rwandan Hutu-Rebels FDLR and Mayi-Mayi-Checka around Pinga.

M23 advancing to Ishasa is in the move to make money and control FDLR supply routes.
