Kinshasa-Six battalions of the National Response brigade trained by Monusco were officially presented on Tuesday 22 November in Kinshasa.On this occasion, the Canadian Embassy in the DRC and the UN Mission have provided protective equipment consistied of clothing, batons, helmets, arm pads, shoulder and leg and so on.To the Congolese National Police (PNC)
These officers were trained in Kasangulu. The Commissioner General of the PNC, General Charles Bisengimana, said that with the organization of refresher training of police and the acquisition of new equipment, the Congolese police will increase their professional capacity for “a more secure elections.”
The head of MONUSCO, Roger Meece, said that the United Nations have pledged to support the DRC in the process of reform and professionalization of the police.
The Canadian Ambassador, Sigrid Anna Johnson, said that with the training and equipment received, “Legion National Response is able to act professionally and to ensure respect for democratic principles and the protection of all Congo and Congolese.”
Tuesday, November 15, the United States of America officially donated protective equipment to the PNC for the security of the elections.
The presidential and legislative elections are scheduled for November 28th floor.
