The FARDC, supported by UN peacekeepers, took over the Getty FRPI in the evening of Thursday, October 20. The militiamen controlled the city since the beginning of the day. FARDC joint patrols, Monusco continue to monitor the area. Some of the inhabitants who had fled returned to the locality.

Calm has returned to Getty after the FARDC, supported by UN peacekeepers equipped with armored vehicles, resumed Thursday night control of the town.

Notables Walendu Bindi indicate that FRPI militia, which had taken control of the city since morning, have abandoned the area and have entrenched themselves in their stronghold of Tcheyi.

Military sources in Bunia Monusco indicate that the joint FARDC-forces Monusco patrol together in the region to secure the area.

Several witnesses also confirmed the return of some residents who had fled to nearby locations in the attack and a slow recovery from this business before noon.
