Food essentials for Women

3rd March 2015, Kigali, Rwanda – the first step in any healthy diet is eating a balanced variety of food, so everyone should start there. Women have special unique nutritional requirements to keep them energized and focused, especially as they age. Here’s a great list of foods that every woman needs to incorporate into her weekly diet to guarantee that as each year goes by, she stays as healthy and fit as she can.
So, if you already work like a man and play even harder, you should design your eating habits a bit more ladylike. We’ve paired some of our most nutrient and flavor-packed recipes with each women-super food to help you get everything you need to fuel that beautiful, wonderful, womanly body.
Here is the list you are waiting for:
Soy protein: is found in products like tofu and soy-milk. Soy protein is heart healthy (helps lower “bad” cholesterol levels) and is rich in phytonutrients.
Foods rich in Folate: like asparagus, oranges, fortified cereals and beans.
Folate is also important during pregnancy for ensuring proper neural tube development of the fetus and has been shown to be important for heart health.
Water: Though it’s not a food, water is important for all metabolic processes in the body. It helps with digestion, weight loss and improves the appearance of the skin. Drinking eight to 10, eight-ounce glasses of water each day is recommended, eating foods with a high water content (like fruits and certain vegetables) will also contribute to your water intake.
Salmon: While the Omega-3 fatty acids in fish do everyone a lot of good, women benefit even more from the super food Salmon. Pregnant? Studies find the oils in fatty fish salmon can help you beat the post-partum blues, particularly if you ratchet up intake during the third trimester.
Building blocks for the brain and nervous system, Omega-3 fats are also critical for the developing fetus. In your forties and beyond? Prevent heart diseases and keep your health on track even. Consuming fatty fish can even help to balance plummet estrogen levels.
And whatever you do don’t skip breakfast as this sets your blood sugar off on a roller coaster, which means you’ll end up choosing the wrong foods later in the day. Remember breakfast makes an important contribution towards your daily intake and it plays an important role in maintaining a healthy weight.
