In a statement issued Thursday, April 12, the president of the platform “Together for change”, Moses Katumbi describes as “criminal and irresponsible” the attitude of the Congolese authorities who refused to participate in the donor conference on the humanitarian crisis that kicked off on Friday 13 April in Geneva, Switzerland.

For him, the regime is sacrificing millions of Congolese to kill in silence and not to be accountable to those who want to assist the suffering population.

According to Moise Katumbi, the DRC has more than 500,000 Congolese victims of war and violence, refugees in neighboring countries.

The country also has more than 4.1 million internally displaced people and nearly 2 million children suffering from acute malnutrition, the former governor of the former province of Katanga denounced.

Paraphrasing Cardinal Laurent Monsengwo, who had indicated that one can not refuse help when one’s hands are empty, the platform’s communiqué says that if “we refuse this help for millions of innocent people, this is the most high treason to the duty of every human being to help others “.

Thus, stigmatizes the statement, “the regime of Joseph Kabila seeks to create the conditions of chaos to postpone indefinitely the holding of elections.” Moise Katumbi encourages donor countries and the entire aid community to help a population “deliberately vulnerable by a handful of leaders.”
