José Mourinho is no longer Tottenham’s coach . This Monday, the Spurs announced that they were separating from the “Special One” landed in November 2019 to replace Mauricio Pochettino. The Portuguese left a club again on failure and saw his odds take another serious hit. Ryan Mason takes over the interim team.

“The club canannounce today that José Mourinho and his staff Joao Sacramento, Nuno Santos, Carlos Lalin and Giovanni Cerra have been relieved of their duties,” Spurs wrote in their statement.

Premier League leader in mid-December, Tottenham has seen its results wither since to only occupy 7th place, 5 points from qualifying places for the Champions League after 32 days.

The technician was criticized for the often too cautious game of his team and rumors of dissension with part of the locker room were multiplying in the press.

Replaced by Ryan Mason

“José and his technical staff have been by our side in one of the most difficult times for the club. José is a very great professional who has shown enormous resistance during the pandemic”, commented the club president, Daniel Levy, cited in the press release.

The timing of the announcement is surprising, as Londoners are set to play a momentous match in the fight for Europe on Wednesday as they host Southampton in a late match of Matchday 29.

They must then play Sunday in the League Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley.

José Mourinho will be replaced for the moment by Ryan Mason, former player of Tottenham and who was the coach of the U19.
