Kigali to host African Parliamentary Union general Assembly

KIGALI—Rwanda will host at the first time, host African Parliamentary Union general assembly to speak on governance and fighting poverty in Africa, Great Lakes Voice reports.

Speaking to the Press, deputy speaker for legal affairs and oversight of government actions, Evariste Kalisa said the conference will tackle on issues to do with bad governance that result to extreme poverty in Africa.

“Bad leadership leads to extreme poverty. Poverty is directly leaked to bad governance, we shall exhaust the issue of governance, ”Kalisa said.

Deputy President of the senate, Bernard Makuza said the conference will be the best opportunity for Rwanda to show cases the success stories of Rwanda.

“They will visit Mutobo, they will be briefed on demobilization and reintegration process. They will visit terraces, Genocide memorial and cultural museums of Rwanda,” Makuza said.

Congo conflict, Mali civil war is seen to be featuring the meeting.
