Muhanzi Swimming event set this weekend

The Murambi, Inyambo-Muhanzi swimming competition is scheduled on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Muhanzi Beach Hotel in the Eastern Province.

Competitors from several clubs will swim a total distance of 1km during the event organized by Thousand Kilo’s Women Canoe Kayak and Aquatic Sports Club “1000K) in partnership with the national swimming federation (RSF).

 Samuel Ufitimana president of national swimming federation president said that competition is the part of the 2018 national swimming calendar that will see other events organized over the season.

“Most people around the lake drown the reason is that they are not skilled in swimming, we need to teach them some skills in order in order to save lives.” He said

Ufitimana further added that the event itself will also be used to encourage residents around the lake Muhanzi to make swimming a professional sport besides it will be an opportunity to educate them about swimming safety to prevent drowning.

Last,  Agahozo Alphonsine from Cercle Club won the female category,Orsolla Rwabukwandi from 1000 Kilos won finished second while Lidwine Uwase was placed third.

In the boy’s category, Eloi Imaniraguha from Zenith Karongi won crowned the winner followed by Isihaka Irankunda Vision came second then  Fabrice Muhire from 1000 Kilos finished third.
