Mwenda, Amb Gatete, Reynord appointed Kagame’s advisors

Members of the Presidential advisory council on Sunday convened in New York in the US.18.09.2011–06H00 according to the reliable sources.

Discussions at the meeting that was chaired by President Paul Kagame centered mainly on the European and US debt crisis, its impact on the Rwandan economy as well as harnessing social media development in Rwanda

The Presidential advisory council also received new members during the New York meeting.

They are Andrew Mwenda, of the Ugandan origin the publisher editor of The Independent, the governor of Rwanda’s national bank Ambassador Claver Gatete and Rod Reynolds the Chief executive officer of Scotia bank in Europe. The three come in addition to the existing 20 members.

The presidential advisory council convenes twice every year.

Speaking to reporters, the minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation said the “discussions were timely especially considering the status quo of Rwanda’s economy.”

One of the attendees Dale Dawson, the director of Bridge Rwanda and chairman of newly established Isoko institute said the institute has been established in line with most of the issues raised during the meeting
