North Kivu: FARDC take control of ADF headquarters

The FARDC has taken control of Mwalika, the ADF headquarters located in the Virunga National Park, reports the operational sector Sokola 1 Great North Wednesday, February 14 in Beni.

In front of the press, the FARDC said that “the alleged ADF couple, in their ideology of conquest and self-financing, the trade massacre of civilians in the region of Beni and Butembo”. And as a way of funding their activities, the army said that the alleged ADF exploited the indigenous populations in the culture of several fish products and hemp.

“When I arrived in Mwalika, I met ADF traders, vast hemp plantations, acres of maize, rice, beans, cassava, peanuts. For each plantation, there are fighters around. And you know what surprised me? Those who cultivate it are Congolese. That is to say the Congolese population between there, cultivate, sow and sometimes harvest for the benefit of the ADF, “said Colonel Marcel Kaheraya who led the FARDC assault on Mwalika.

FARDC has announced plans to set up a military base in Mwalika.
