Rwanda’s national football team, Amavubi, have landed two friendly invites from Libya and Tunisia ahead of their packed international season in June when they play two World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games.
Ferwafa, the national football association says they chose Tunisia because of its geographical location, next to Algeria, who Amavubi play on June 2 in their first World Cup qualifying game before hosting Benin in Kigali on June 9th.
Amavubi is also expected to then travel to Lagos for the return leg of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Nigeria due June 15-17.
Amavubi’s head coach Milutin Sredojevic Micho, who arrived back in the country said Tunisian football federation was yet to send their formal acceptance but had published it on their website.
The Director of Sports in the Ministry of Sports and Culture, Emmanuel Bugingo,said that FERWAFA meeting will choose between the two countries.
According to Ferwafa’s Secretary General, Michel Gasigwa, Amavubi will be summoned immediately once the football season comes to an end mid next month.
